Keyword research in SEO is simple and most effective in 2023

It’s me again, like previous articles, today I will share with you a detailed guide on how to analyze keywords.

1. PUT YOURSELF IN THE USER’S POSITION

To research keywords, put yourself as a user first:

Research your company’s products

  • What products are you selling? List out the detailed names of the products you have

Research your competitors’ keywords

  • Use the tool: https://kwfinder.com/ or use other tools

Research everyone’s customers

  • Research the fears in customers’ hearts

For example: Customers are afraid of having their items stolen when repairing their computers

Research the desires of customers

For example: Customers want to buy cheap products and services with many benefits

Next, after researching the above issues, use the tools below to list all the keywords users often search for:

2.1 Analyze keywords using Keyword tool IO

1. First, people visit the website: http://keywordtool.io/

2. Choose a search engine here including Google, youtube, bing, appstore. Since we are SEOing Google, we will choose Google

3. Choose the type of SEO Google wants, for example, Vietnam chooses Google.com.vn. Select language (here is Vietnamese)

4. Enter the main keyword in the search bar then press Enter or click on the magnifying glass image (main keyword, for example, about selling computers, the keyword to search for is “computer”).

5. Click on the “Copy all” button to copy all keywords and paste into the excel file.

2.2 Analyze keywords using Uber Suggest

1. First, people visit the website: http://ubersuggest.org/

2. Enter keywords in the “query” box, then click suggest => Keywords will appear

3. Next, click on the “Select all keywords” button

4. Scroll down and look on the right side, click on the “Get” button then copy all the keywords

5. Copy all keywords and paste into the excel file.

2.3 Analyze keywords using Keyword Planner

1. Visit the link https://adwords.google.com/ and log in with your gmail account

2. Enter keywords in the “query” box, then click suggest => Keywords will appear

3. Click on the section: “Search for new keywords using a phrase, website, or category”

4. Enter keywords in the first box under the words “Your product or service”

5. Choose targeting: Set locations to Vietnam and language to Vietnamese (if SEO google.com.vn)

6. Select “get ideas” to find keywords

7. After listing the keyword groups, everyone clicks on “keywords ideas”

8. Look to the right and click “download”

9. Copy everything from the velcro to another excel sheet

3. CLASSIFICATION OF KEYWORDS

After using the keyword analysis tool, we have a list of keywords that users often search for. To analyze further, we will divide the keywords we have above into the following keyword types:

3.1 Brand keywords

Keywords carry the business’s brand name, providing information about the business to customers.

For example: Trung Tin computer, Kim Tin computer,…

3.2 Information keywords

A type of keyword that provides useful information about products and services to customers. This is the type of keyword most searched by customers

For example: how to make the most of your RAM when using your computer

3.3 Keyword questions and answers

This is the type of keyword where customers ask whether the product or service is good or reputable because of their fear.

For example: Where is a reputable and safe place to repair computers?,  Where to buy cheap computers?

3.4 Product keywords

This is a type of keyword that accurately describes the information customers are looking for, such as the exact product name and model characters.

For example: MacBook Pro 13-inch (2021)

3.5 Wrong keywords

Carefully studying the search behavior of customers, we will find errors such as misspelling the customer’s name or typing it almost correctly because we only vaguely remember it.

For example: Pro 13 inch buds

3.6 Main keywords

Include plus keywords and local keywords

  • Plus keywords:

Includes the main keyword plus any meaningful word (with this type of plus keyword, you can divide them into level 1 keywords -> level 3 keywords based on the length of the word)

For example: desktop = computer + desktop

  • Local keywords:

Feeling reluctant to travel far, wanting to buy goods and use services nearby for convenience

For example: Cheap computer repair in Binh Thanh district

Categorize keywords related to the topic “computer repair”

Note:

A small note is that when we apply keywords to SEO, we SEO in the order of the stages below:

  • Phase 1 group of wrong keywords + previous product keywords, brand keywords
  • Phase 2 group of question and answer keywords + information keywords
  • Phase 3 local keywords
  • The final stage is the plus keyword.
